Recognizing Teammates for National Construction Safety Week 2026
May 7, 2026 — CO, UT, MT, WY — National Construction Safety Week is May 4-8, and it serves as a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility and a commitment that must be upheld every day. At Encore Electric, there are field leaders across all areas who contribute to the safety culture to help keep teammates, trade partners, customers, and the community safe. Meet some of the Encore Electric field leaders who are supporting the safety culture below!
Michael Caperton, Foreman
Northern Colorado Business Unit
“I work safe because my family is everything to me, especially with a new baby at home and I’m building a future that they can count on. I’m proud to work for a company that backs that up by making going home safe the top priority every day. I’m committed to continuing to set the standard for the next generation, showing the newer guys that safety is the legacy we leave behind.”
Chance Thompson, Foreman
Montana Business Unit
“Encore’s strong commitment to leadership is why safety comes first on our jobsites. From decision-making to hazard recognition and accountability, safety is embedded in everything we do. Our leadership training empowers us to guide our crews, trade partners, and customers to follow the right procedures and ensure everyone gets home safely.”
Sam Kallsen, Director of VDC & Prefab
Prefabrication and Tool Center in Aurora, Colorado
“Working safely is something we make a priority every day in the shop. It is the one thing in the shop that everyone has the same authority over: if it’s not safe, stop immediately. We want everyone to go home the same way they came to work and understand it’s not just for the employee but for their families as well.”
Jaggar Nichols, Foreman
Denver Service and Special Projects Business Unit
“I am safe and the individuals around me are safe through promoting agency among others and myself on the job. Agency is the capacity of individuals to act independently, make their own free choices, and exert power to produce effects. If everyone on the job looked at everyone they encountered as someone with a family, a purpose, a pursuit of happiness; jobs would be that much safer. We know how to be safe, even in our guts. It’s up to you to choose.”
Brian Stoneking, Prefabrication Production Manager
Prefabrication and Tool Center in Aurora, Colorado
“Safety is a choice each of us makes everyday to always do the right thing, with the highest level of integrity, so we can go home to our families and enjoy all the riches this life offers. I am truly grateful that Encore has such a strong safety culture.”
James Clark, Systems Specialist
Technology Solutions Business Unit
“I work safely because what we build matters, but how we build it matters more. Every piece of equipment set, every wire pulled, every bolt tightened carries a choice: rush and risk it or take the time to do it right. Every precaution I take is a quiet promise that no deadline, no shortcut, and no moment of pressure is worth more than a lifetime of consequences. Safety is a responsibility I carry for myself, for the crew besides me, my family, and for the life waiting for me when the workday ends. The job will always be there tomorrow. I intend to be there too.”
Kevin VanLandingham, Foreman
Utah Business Unit
“I want the team to go home the same way they came in, except to be a little tired. I would not let a teammate do something that I wouldn’t be willing to do myself. As often as we become veteran installers, we need to keep in mind that not all teammates are trained the same and have the same experiences. We need to be open to changing conditions and scenarios that are not always the same mitigations. We need to train our teammates to stay focused, take a breather, and always look around at the constant changes and potential hazards. Let’s battle the complacency with the on-going opportunities of trainings and learn to stay proactive, rather than reactive. Let’s stay safe, go home to our loved ones, and come back to the battles that we all face together as a team!”
Chris Bramley, Journeyman
Colorado Mountain Business Unit
“I work safely because everyone deserves to go home the same way they showed up, no exceptions. At Encore, safety isn’t just a rule, it’s a mindset we carry into every task, every day. I take pride in setting the standard on my jobsite because cutting corners is never worth the risk.”
Brandon Genova, Superintendent
Denver Business Unit
“Safety has always been our number one priority. It’s about identifying hazards early, talking through the ‘what ifs,’ and making sure everyone knows what can bite them before they start. At the end of the day, the goal’s simple: everybody goes home the same way they showed up. We had a lot of young, new guys on this project so it took extra effort. Repeating the basics, walking them through it, keeping it in their heads every day was how we built a crew that watches out for each other and made safety their top priority.”
Jeremy Buker, Superintendent
Southern Colorado Business Unit
“It is amazing working for a company that focuses on safety first, which shows how much they care about our employees and their families. This makes it easier for us in the field to make sure everyone takes the time to work safe and go home the same way they came to work every day.”
Happy National Construction Safety Week!
