Mark Briels has been with Encore Electric at the Encore Electric Avon office for just over a year and a half, and has worked as a journeyman in the field at the W Hotel in Aspen, and is currently working in the office on estimates for the Mountain team.
When he was younger, Briels’ father wanted him to go to college. However, after taking a summer job as an apprentice electrician, Briels enjoyed the work so much he decided to make it his career. “It kind of made sense to me, everything is progressional,” Briels said. “You have to do one thing to make another work and I like that.”
Briels has had a long and interesting career in the electrical trade, after starting in Denver and moving to Houston, Briels worked as a project manager and estimator. The call of the mountains led Briels and his wife back to the Colorado mountains, and they moved to Rifle, Colorado, where Briels started his own electrical company.
After 20 years in the business, Briels retired from contracting and sold his company – but wanted to stay in the electrical industry. After searching around for a company that would be a good fit for him, Briels was impressed with Encore Electric and its dedication to its employees and good benefits.
“I love doing electrical work and my role at Encore has been great,” Briels said. “I’m getting to start with a new company and a new outlook.”
