17th Annual Summit Awards Celebrate Excellence in the Electrical Industry

May 5, 2023 – Lakewood, CO — On April 20, 2023, Encore Electric gathered with fellow members of the Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain (IECRM) at Empower Field at Mile High for the 17th Annual IECRM Summit Awards. Each year, the awards recognize excellence in the electrical and renewable energy industry by awarding the most influential projects in the Rocky Mountain region.

Encore Electric took home multiple awards at the event for our outstanding people, technology, and electrical work.

Encore Electric Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Jeff Thompson was honored as the IECRM Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, an award that recognizes the most influential figures in the industry. Through Thompson’s career he has not only built a legacy within the Encore Electric team, but in the electrical industry as he led major projects that have changed the landscape of the Rocky Mountain West.

“I can’t express enough the gratitude I feel for the Encore team and the IECRM team that put this together for me,” said Thompson. “It is hard to have a lifetime of achievement without a great team around you. You men and women are the best in the industry! Thank you very much!”

The Encore Electric Technology Solutions group earned the Low-Voltage, Limited Energy Systems Construction Award for work done at the Colorado State University Moby Locker Room project. Technology Solutions professionals worked against a strained supply chain and obstacles that come with maintaining a stadium’s historic original architecture to create a space that would energize the athletes to perform at a high level, while being a haven for athletes to recover post-practice or post-game. Despite the challenges overcome on the job, the team felt rewarded for their efforts seeing the student athletes bursting with excitement in their social media posts sharing the completed space.

“This was a challenging job, and it required immense effort and coordination to make it successful,” said Project Engineer David Embry. “We faced several procurement issues, and we went through several design changes during the project. However, we overcame these challenges as a team, and delivered an outstanding result that exceeded the customer’s expectations.”

Encore Electric also earned the Commercial Project, $10M+ award for work on the CSU Spur project. The Spur Campus has already begun to make its mark on the Denver community, bringing learners of all backgrounds together to explore all things Vida, Terra, and Hydro.

“It was great to receive this IECRM Summit Award for the CSU Spur projects,” said Matt McCloud, superintendent. “There were several challenges from the start of the project, whether it was starting in October 2020 during the middle of the COVID pandemic or substantial delays during the early stages for both buildings. The teams that worked on both the Hydro and Terra buildings did a great job working together among our crews and other trades on site to push through the struggles to get the projects completed. It was great to see how excited CSU was to fully open the Spur campus for the 2023 National Western Stock Show and show off the buildings. Everyone should be extremely proud of their contributions to the campus.”

Congratulations to all teammates involved in building these award-winning projects!
