Encore Electric is Proud to Sponsor the Memorial Day Ride for Veterans

June 1, 2022 – Rifle, CO — As we honored the military personnel who have given their lives serving our country this Memorial Day, Encore Electric was proud to sponsor the Eighth Annual Memorial Day Ride for Veterans. Each year, hundreds of riders from across the country gather for the ride to raise money and remember those who served.

Riders hit several western Colorado landmarks along their 80-mile route, beginning their journey at Rosebud Cemetery for a ceremony, then making their way to stops including Bair Ranch Rest Area, Rifle Vets Memorial Park, and Colorado State Veteran’s Home. The group of nearly 200 riders ended their day at the Garfield County Fairgrounds with a celebratory BBQ and raffle to raise funds for veterans.

Encore Electric Foreman Alex Bond has participated in the ride for the past four years, and now serves as a road captain, helping to direct riders on their journey.

“People see why we ride, it’s a great cause and a fun way to support veterans in our community,” said Bond. “And it doesn’t end with the ride, we’re covering a veteran’s funeral coming up soon.”

In the seven years that team members from Encore Electric have been involved in the event, over $60,000 has been donated to support veterans. Donations are given to organizations such as Colorado State Veteran’s Home, Western Slope Veteran’s Coalition, and Operation Interdependence. Riders also donate directly to veterans in the community who are struggling.

“Events like this are a great way to show up for and support our veterans,” said Pete Palmgren, director of the mountains business unit. “As far as I’m concerned, we can never do enough to support this community, so we’re happy to help veterans in any way – whether it be veterans at Encore or in our communities.”

The Memorial Day Ride is about more than supporting veterans financially. Riders and supporters create space for comradery, community, and connection at the events, recognizing the sacrifices made by those who have served in the past and present and building community around those who have given so much.
