Lakewood, CO — Joe Muzy, safety specialist for Encore Electric, today was named the 2018 Tony Dietrich Safety Professional of the Year by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Rocky Mountain Chapter. The award recognizes his contribution to improving the overall safety of the organization, as well as his dedication to safe working practices in the construction industry.

Joe Muzy has been a health and safety professional for more than 30 years, both in the military and in the private sector. He joined Encore Electric in 2010 and has been a safety leader in the organization ever since. On a daily basis, Muzy help manage safety programs in the Colorado and Wyoming business regions of Encore Electric, going out of his way to make sure the more than 800 employees at the company go home safe to their families every night.

Joe has developed and taught dozens of classes to the employees of Encore Electric at their in-house training program, Encore University. In addition to spending his own time developing the curriculum, he has trained many of the men and women in the field every day, leading to a significant reduction in workplace and jobsite injuries and illnesses.

The craftsmen who learn from Joe say that he is a total professional when it comes to safety, and they know they can trust what he tells them.

The award was established by ABC Rocky Mountain to recognize Tony Dietrich, an active member of ABC who worked for dcb Construction Company, who died tragically in 2010.

Joe Muzy was recognized at the ABC Rocky Mountain Safety Conference and Awards Luncheon held on May 22, 2018 at the Sheraton Denver West Hotel.
