Proclamation Signed by Governor John Hickenlooper Recognizes Construction Industry

October 15, 2018 – Denver, CO — Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper recently recognized the construction industry by naming October Colorado Construction Careers Month. This is the second year in a row the governor has honored the industry with this proclamation.

The announcement is designed to recognize the need to increase public awareness and appreciation of construction craft professionals, and the entire construction workforce, by backing our workforce development efforts.

“The renewed admiration being shown to construction craft professionals and the critical role they play in developing our state should be an encouraging influence to those exploring construction pathways,” said David Scott, Director of Human Resources and Training for Encore Electric.

Encore Electric is dedicated to the training and career development of the electricians of the future. By hiring and retaining the best and brightest the Colorado electrical industry has to offer, Encore gives craftspeople the ability to move forward in their career and create a sustainable path to prosperity for themselves and their families. Colorado Construction Careers Month is one way to attract more bright and promising talent to the industry.

Encore University is an important way that the organization shows that dedication to our electricians. Our own in-house training arm holds hundreds of classes a year and provides ongoing continuing education to existing electricians, as well as important training and information for apprentices and those new to the industry.

In addition, our partnership with the Independent Electrical Contractors and other schools allows us to train our apprentices in best practices, as well as give them the tools they need to succeed in their careers.

It is heartening to see that dedication repeated by members of our state government through proclamations like these. Together, through recruitment, training and partnerships between industry and government, we can continue to lead the construction industry forward into the next decade of the 21st century.
