The American Honda Motor Company Data Center, located in Longmont, Colorado, is a 67,000 sqft., state-of-the-art data storage facility. The building serves as one of Honda’s primary data centers and is powered by a completely redundant electrical system. Encore utilized extensive 3D CAD to plan and layout the underground conduit installation in the two main electrical rooms as well as the paralleling switchgear room and the generator room. The extensive preplanning enabled Encore to have precast concrete vaults designed to house each main piece of the power distribution system with all of the necessary penetrations made and we were thus able to avoid having to design the installation in the field; saving valuable labor hours and ensuring the schedule was not compromised.
