COVID-19 Crisis Doesn’t Change Commitment to Communities

April  28, 2020 – Lakewood, Colo. — Organizations including The Five Star Education Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Hope House, and the Tennyson Center for Children work hard to provide resources for the communities where the Encore Electric family is proud to live and work. Encore Electric is honored to offer support in return.

The Five Star Education Foundation has supported students in Adams County, Colorado for more than 30 years. This foundation prepares students for a variety of opportunities after high school and helps them prepare for a sustainable career after graduation. With our general contractor partner Adolfson & Peterson Construction, Encore Electric sponsored The Five Star Education Foundation’s annual Reach For The Stars Gala, which was moved online this year due to COVID-19. Despite these challenges, the community came together and this year was the largest silent auction to date.

Encore Electric is a long-standing supporter of Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley, sponsoring their annual Carpenters’ Ball. Encore Electric was happy to sponsor this year’s virtual event alongside our general contractor partners Adolfson & Peterson Construction and GE Johnson Construction Co. Habitat for Humanity Vail Valley builds and renovates homes in Eagle and Lake Counties in the communities of Leadville, Edwards, Eagle, and Gypsum. Many local families have achieved stability and self-sufficiency through Habitat for Humanity shelters.

Hope House is metro Denver’s only resource providing free self-sufficiency programs to teen moms, including residential, GED, and college and career programs. Encore Electric works with general contractor partner Adolfson & Peterson Construction to support the Hope House.

Encore Electric supports the Tennyson Center for Children annually at various events including a Q & Brew concert and fundraiser. This year, the event took place virtually and raised more than $7,000. The Tennyson Center for Children serves kids who have experienced abuse and neglect, offering day and residential treatment as well as community-based services.

Last summer, Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers kicked off a community campaign to raise the funds to complete the Pikes Peak – Summit House, “Our city’s past, present and future are connected to Pikes Peak,” Suthers said in an article from the Colorado Springs Business Journal from 2019. “The sense of pride and ownership of this mountain that’s felt by members of our community is and always has been palpable, and now our generation has a chance to contribute to this incredible legacy.” Encore Electric’s Colorado Springs office sits just 14 miles from the top of Pike’s Peak (as the crow flies) and contributed funding to this campaign.

“This is one of the most iconic mountains in the United States, and being right here in our backyard it is pretty awesome to be a part of,” said Southern Business Unit Leader JR Bond.
