The Best Specialty Contractor Project Award recognizes work done by Encore Electric Team

BOZEMAN, Mont. (January 28, 2026) — Encore Electric, a premier electrical contractor in the Rocky Mountain West, has been honored with a 2025 Construction Excellence Award from the Montana Contractors Association (MCA), recognizing the company’s outstanding work on the West Yellowstone Airport terminal expansion. Encore Electric received the award in the Best Specialty Contractor Project category, recognizing excellence in design, craftsmanship, innovation, teamwork and execution under challenging conditions.

Completed in May 2025, the West Yellowstone Airport terminal expansion blends historic preservation with modern, energy-efficient infrastructure – creating a welcoming, future-ready gateway for travelers visiting Yellowstone National Park and enjoying the region’s outdoor adventures. Encore Electric delivered the complex electrical, data, security, and lighting systems that support the terminal’s operations while honoring its architectural heritage.

Working closely with Martel Construction and the Montana Department of Transportation, Encore Electric created a modern electrical and lighting system within an all-wood terminal, carefully preserving the building’s character and craftsmanship. Given the project’s remote location and strict aviation requirements, Encore Electric relied on thoughtful planning, off-site preparation and close collaboration to stay on schedule. The result is a design that blends functional, contemporary elements with Montana’s rustic feel, and showcases features like exposed wood details and the airport’s restored 1930s aviation beacon as a striking centerpiece.

“Building an FAA facility in such a remote location required precision, persistence, and collaboration,” said Bill Frye, director of Montana Business Unit for Encore Electric. “This award reflects the dedication of our electricians and project leaders who delivered exceptional quality under demanding conditions while never compromising safety, craftsmanship, or the project vision.”

The MCA Construction Excellence Award recognizes projects that demonstrate superior performance across design, execution, innovation, and partnership. For Encore Electric, the West Yellowstone Airport terminal stands as a showcase of what’s possible when technical expertise, teamwork, and pride in craftsmanship come together, no matter how remote or complex the job.

“The Encore Electric team cared deeply about the outcome, worked through challenges without hesitation, and delivered exceptional results in one of the toughest places to build,” said Michael Finch, superintendent for the West Yellowstone project. “I’m proud of the team’s work and the recognition they’re earning with this award.”
