Estimator Work Skills Highlighted in New Video for Encore Electric

September 29, 2021 – Lakewood, CO — As part of our ongoing series highlighting the work done by the men and women of Encore Electric, we are proud to feature this new video about a day in the life of Mike Beal and Matt Borzcik, two of our estimators at our Lakewood office.

Mike started out in the field as an apprentice electrician. After receiving his journeyman’s license, he came into the office as a junior estimator before working his way up to his current position as senior estimator. Matt interned with Encore Electric for four summers while he was in school at Colorado State University and found himself taking a job as a junior estimator after working for a year as a field engineer.

Estimators help to develop budgets for projects that are in the beginning phase of design. They could be working on an idea that an owner has given to an architect, or even as part of a request for proposal. They use historical data and their experience in building to help put together a design for the Encore Electric team, utilizing resources in the field and in the office.

Estimators work with nearly every team at Encore Electric, including Construction and Technology Solutions and even the Service team. Estimators work as a team to understand the needs and desires of a project, taking into consideration the needs of a general contractor, owner and architect to deliver the best work for our customers.

Being an electrical contracting estimator can be a demanding job, but also is very rewarding and provides opportunities to those with the skills in the electrical field to be successful.
