Recognizing Women Who Contribute Leadership and Innovation to the Trades
March 5, 2025 – Lakewood, CO — In honor of Women in Construction (WIC) Week 2025, Encore Electric celebrates the incredible women helping to shape the future of the trades. This week serves as an opportunity to acknowledge their contributions and inspire more women to pursue careers in construction.
This WIC Week, hear from eight Encore Electric women on their experience working in the industry.

“The reason I chose a career in the construction industry really stems from two major key factors. First and foremost is showing my daughters that as a woman you can do anything as long as you apply yourself to it. Secondly, I’ve always been very handy from DIY to fixing my own things, so why not make a career out of something I’m good at.”

“I pursued a career in the trades because growing up, I saw my father fix and build everything in our household. I admired being able to have those skills and growing up, I wanted to have them. My advice is to go for it. It can seem scary, but as long as you are putting all your effort in, it will be noticed.”

“I pursued a career in construction because I saw it as an opportunity to challenge myself and grow. Not only career wise, but as an individual.”

“Growing up, I’ve always been interested in seeing how things work and how things are built. I ended up helping my dad build different things – he’s an electrician as well. I’ve always had kind of a passion for it, but I didn’t know if, as a woman, I would be able to jump into the field and be able to do it very well because it’s a very male dominated job. But I decided to go for it, and I absolutely love it.”

“My favorite part is knowing that I will never stop learning. Every project presents new challenges, and the code is ever evolving. It’s really humbling sometimes and has taught me how to have grace for myself and others.”

“I love the diversity of the trades and the family-like community in it. Not only do I feel fulfilled in my job, but I feel the importance of my job and how it impacts the world. The people I have met and worked for in the trades have taught me to be a better person in my day-to-day life and an overall better worker throughout my career.”

“I worked in a hospital for about five years, and I felt kind of burned out. I liked doing physical labor, more hands-on work, and I have a couple of electricians in the family, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I want to see more women in the construction industry because I think we’re pretty badass and we do a good job from what I’ve seen.”

“Women bring a perspective and skill set that is often lacking, therefore needed, in the industry.”
